My plan today was one finished at 13:30 hrs, some chilled out quiet coastal village and catch up with the Test Match and start a new book.
This was a tough day, 7 times the road curled up into the cliffs over the sea making for some tremendous views, but hard work. Each time to over a 100 metres asl, and once to 187 metres. The mornings are not as cool as in the mountains, by 11:00 hrs it was 29 C.
Best laid plans. It has happened many times biking over the years, that he place just wasn’t right. Certainly there was a real mixture of villages with delightful rocky beaches and few people around, and crowded sandy beaches. So I pushed on, way beyond the 13:30 plan; but as often happens, certainly it was for the best. Pisciotta Marina is a welcome break to most of the places passed through.
Starting late in the mornings is really not an option as by 12:00 it’s 30C and the shade is diminished. So arriving early is something to aim for….
No apologies for Dylan quotes. Often his lyrics are set in Mexico or Spain, and hot southern Italy takes me there also. Italy in Dylan’s lyrics, now there’s a question. I certainly know of one, the quote after the photos – for me certainly top 5 of all. Other answers welcomed, twitter @andymweston .
