Day 19 – Crnomelj to Ljubljana

41 miles (66 km) – Total so far: 945 miles (1,521 km)

I managed to eat something last night but not a lot. The older you get the longer it takes to recover from these things.
After a couple of yoghurts this morning I made slow progress once again.

Much better route today up the Krka river valley through rural Slovenia, and it certainly is very picturesque.
A couple of yoghurts for breakfast, and I’m up to 50% – plodding along, what fortunately today is not a very hilly route.

Zuzemberg castle, built in the 13th century.

Through the small town of Krka

To the junction with the major road into Ljubljana, Highway 42. Ivancna Gorica town.
By this time having not eaten, last night’s food-poisoning only slowly recovering, I took the train the last 20 km into Ljubljana.

Dragon Bridge, Ljubljana

I had pre-booked a room here in Ljubljana for 2 nights – hence my desire to get here today.
It’s worked well to get completely rid of the bad stomach, it’s taken me longer than I though it would.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
