46 miles (74 km) – Total so far: 999 miles (1,608 km)
The bad stomach caused by food in Slunj took 3 days to get over. I underestimated it.
Sunday evening and Monday I had leg cramps. By pure fortune I came across a physiotherapist who was incredibly helpful. He confirmed no real muscle damage, particularly to the groin which caused me the most problem, and refused to accept any payment. He said it would be illegal for him to do so.
I’m sure the cramps were caused by not eating for two days and generally being low on energy. It was still sore this morning, but improved gradually throughout the day.

Leaving Ljubljana this morning. After three days of rain, it’s cloud clearing today.

Though such a small city, 250,000 out of Slovenia’s 2 million, it has plenty of stunning buildings and lots of history.
It’s suburbs sprawl, it is 10 km, but all on bike paths, to get out of it.
After that, I was following this bike route to Bled. Generally it’s small rural roads with very low traffic.

The town of Kranj.
It’s old town is without cars. Only those with the special pass can get through the barrier.
That protects its cobbled streets and old buildings and allows tourists and locals to wander in a huge pedestrianised area.

The Julian Alps lie ahead.
Some climbing on the cards – soon be back in the high life again.

Great sign.
Very curly road ahead.

Lake Bled.
It is very picturesque…

….but… something like Bowness in Lake Windermere in terms of tourism.
As with Windermere, I’m sure it’s good for the local economy, but a 5 minute visit is plenty for me.

The highlight of the day though is cycling the road leading away.
At one stage it’s up at 700 metres asl, then drops back into the valley at 500 m.
I’ve intentionally had a fairly short day, and am based at Jesenice for the night.
