A sparkling autumn morning in the Sumava mountains, with a frost last night.
Temperatures here can get as low as minus 30 , the coldest place in the Czech Republic.

Up and down rather more than you would call rolling, it all amounted to a lot of climbing today, about 1300 metres in all.
The village of Nove Hute, and it has a beginners’ or children’s ski slope. It’s at just below 1000 metres above sea level.

Hrad Kasperk, or castle, up on the hill before the town of Kasperske Hory.

Kasperske Hory town centre on a superb autumn morning.

This middle part of the day featured some of the most scenic riding on small farm roads, some sealed some unsealed, of the whole tour. Between Kasperske Hory and Kaltovy.

Klatovy town centre.

With such a fine day, and the weather forecast for tomorrow being for rain, I opted for an extra 20 km which meant finishing late.
The sun is dropping fast as I finish in the town of Domazlice.
Ridiculously I couldn’t find a room for the night. They must be there, but each place I called at was full. I had to resort to booking.com and then their directions. It was about 30 metres from where I had looked, just difficult to find. 25 euros, a bit expensive for Czech, but this town gets a lot of German visitors, being so close to the border.
