Day 34 – Altendorf to Nuremberg

71 miles (114 km) – Total so far: 1,564 miles (2,517 km)

A good place to stay. Excellent food and hospitality, just a pity about the beer. They only had one, just a lager. Everyone seems to like it though…except me.

Back into the Schwarze Laber radweg until the town of Amberg.
A large section is an old railway line. Almost completely riding without traffic.

Crossing the Schwarz river.
The were a few other guests at the Gasthof last night who were on a fishing break. Fishing and drinking it seemed, im not sure how a couple of them got to bed. Trout are plentiful here they told me.
The ‘famous’ Schwarz river, it’s name used in the beer drinking game, ‘zoom, schwarz, profigliano’.

‘The way is long but the end is near..’

Always a lyric that goes through my head at this stage of a course, with just a few kilometres to go.

‘Already the fiesta has begun.’

Brief stop and snack in Amberg town centre.

And finally, Nuremberg.
First, to find a bike box on a Friday afternoon, them the AirBnB I’ve booked, then to find some decent beer and food.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
