Day 9 – Cartisora to Brasov

47 miles (76 km) – Total so far: 482 miles (776 km)

asa Deus is a really good accommodation. It’s a part farm and set rurally so quiet. A cabin was great on a wet night, but camping usually would be fine. There was a Czech cycling group in and they were fed first, meaning a limited menu and late eating.
I needed a break from the repetitive very well cooked and tough meats with damp French fries so it wasn’t too bad that it was cabbage rolls with cabbage, and soup of course (which is always good).

As can be seen though, it was another wet day – heavy rain all morning.
I was away just after 8, the semi-dried clothes wet again after a minute or so.

I’ve found quiet roads through picturesque villages with hardly a car; through Arpasu de Sus, Ucea de Sus, Victoria, Vistea de Sus, Dragus, and Sambata de Sus.

Down to big road eventually though, the E64.

And through this village, with a great name, and a sensible message.

I have a day off here in Brasov and have found a great AirBnB apartment which is very central, a good price and newly refurbished. A chance to do some washing, clean the bike up and try and find some decent food and beer.

It’s not a big city and a pleasant surprise, lots of character and despite quite a few tourists being around, relatively unspoilt.
I did the various jobs I needed to and headed out..

The Jar Bar. All the board are Romanian beers, of which I had a couple. They are in cans and bottles, no keg – but cheap.
As ever, eyes wide on entry, but after a couple I’m totally exhausted and a Chinese takeaway and bed. Could be another visit tomorrow..

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
