Day 28 – In Zakopane

Day 28 – In Zakopane

5 miles (8 km) – Total so far: 1,254 miles (2,018 km)

It’s a clearer day here in Zakopane.
Temperature topped out at early 20s, but at night gets as cool as 3C. Much easier to sleep, and more like what I’m used to.

I really haven’t done much today, and quite enjoyed it.
It isn’t my sort of place, a bit similar to an inflated Keswick. It does have a spectacular backdrop though. But I’ve got a good and cheap apartment, so can cook and update the necessary; important matters like book reviews and planning the remaining days of the course.

I’ve just finished Tokarczuk’s Drive Your Plow and have been comparing myself to her crazy old woman in the woods, Mrs Duszejko, most if the day..

I did get out for a beer in the early evening, during a rain delay at Old Trafford.
Then retreated for a quiet evening – there’s a big Lancashire quarter final tonight..

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
