Day 26 – Rio Borosa – a mighty canyon (part 2)
Though some envious dogs can’t swim..

The mountains around raise up to around 1500 metres, and the point I reached, a couple of kilometres further than most other people went, was 1350 metres, the secluded and picturesque lake of Valdeazores.

While having lunch, a visitor crept up on us. Less than 5 metres away our zorro stayed long enough for me to get a photo, before Roja noticed..

This was a superb day out; just enough people around for the occasional chat, with tremendous and varied scenery.

I’d read a few reviews of this hike, and all underestimated the distance and height gained. For me, the distance was 26 km, or just over 17 miles, with about 850 metres gained; 3 and a half hours out, and 3 back – but it’s the sort of hike about which to take your time, bathe even and appreciate the vistas and goats on narrow ledges, and those Imperial Eagles.
What’s more my heel held up well, it’s the most distance I’ve done by some considerable margin since last autumn.
I did manage to eat out in the evening, though nothing special, at the nearby 11 hermanos restaurant.
