Day 76 – to wastelands, 25k south east Pamplona

Just ten minutes down the road this morning, still in the Sierra de Capileira, to the village of Pradoluengo. It had been a cold night, there was ice on the inside of the windscreen, and the dog’s water bowl consisted solely of a frozen discus. Fortunately, the heating can be controlled from a remote on the key ring, which enabled a more comfortable rousing.

These forested trails are at their best at this time of year, the colours showing themselves off with the sun so low in the sky. From time to time, and fortunately at the summit, the canopy breaks, and impressive views of the surrounding peaks and woodlands, with their first snow, are on display.

After a lazy lunch we drove on for 90 minutes, to just south of Pamplona. In an an abandoned farm I met a guy in a T5 trying to learn to fly his drone. He was a local, and said it seemed an ideal place for the night, so I hunkered down before the sun went down and the temperature dropped.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
