Day 3 – to Wanderup, Germany

A driving day, heading eastwards around Antwerp, Eindhoven, Münster, Bremen, Hamburg, and I’m finally holed up in the little town of Wanderup, just a few kilometres short of the Danish border.

Weather is similar to UK at the moment, ranging between 14 and 20C, with the odd shower, cool for the time of year I guess, but fine for me.

The planned stock-up of Belgian beer, for the next 12 weeks or so, was easy enough in the Carrefour in Nevele. All done by 9 am.

It’s advantageous to keep a track of the politics of the country’s one drives through at present. France are about to bin the majority of the duty on fuel, it will be €1.50 a litre from 1 September. Germany already has, previously it was the most expensive in Europe, the last time I passed through at €2.40 a litre, now €1.70. Belgium and Netherlands are yet to move, and in Scandinavia, Sweden is 30 cents less a litre than its neighbours.

I was in Wanderup just after 7. After feeding Roja, it was over the road to a Greek Taverna for a couple of beers and something to eat. Im just stopped at the car park on a quiet evening, watching the T20 from Bristol.

Photos 2 and 4 from lunch, in a ploughed field.. the dog disturbed by a hare.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
