Day 6 – to Hornsborg, Sweden
An early morning dip in the fjord for the dog, who really didn’t want to come out, and an hour walk along the beach before breakfast.
The place I stayed is a small farm and bed and breakfast that have up to 4 vans or motorhomes staying at €10 each. There are no bathrooms, so the guests need there own facilities. It was worth it though as there was a top view over the fjord, and though I was alone the first night, a bit of company last night went well. There were two older Danish couples, and a German couple with two dogs that looked hard work.
If there was a problem with the venue it was the owner was rather over the top with dogs being on leads. She came over to check several times. Roja will just sit in his bed all evening after his usual exercise, not bothering with anyone or any other dogs. But tied to a rope he gets tangled, as he’s not used to it. But he figured it out in the end.
Just after the Zealand bridge, which I mentioned yesterday, I stopped at the tourist office to fill up with water, which is a service they offer. After all, it does cost £25 to cross.
As a medium wheel base, I’m under 6 metres long, which goes well here. 6 metres or over pushes you into the next category, actually double the cost on the ferry. In Western Europe on the toll roads, at 5.83 metres I was already in that category.

So onto the Helsingør – Helsingborg ferry. These are roll on roll off. If you book your ticket online it’s 60 euros rather than 70, and then the system is supposed to recognise your number plate. But it didn’t in my case. The ferry is a better bet, and cheaper for me than the Oresund Bridge, which is more expensive, and slightly the wrong direction, in addition to having to drive through Copenhagen.
I’m Sweden I drive for an hour to a forested location not far off the Stockholm motorway, the E4. It’s another place that charges €10 and offers no bathroom, but this time at least water is included, and the guy who runs is pleasantly crazy. It’s a rundown (to say the least) old farm, which you would struggle to believe anyone actually lived in. I guess it’s a project. His wife writes books, for children and also cookery, and offers relaxation courses and sessions. They are not quite old enough to be children of the 60s but certainly there is that hippie vibe, which goes quite well in my book..
I was the only one here on arrival, but a couple of others motorhomes have arrived. There’s plenty of space, so very little noise at all. There’s a young German family with three young children, totally besotted by the foal of the miniature horse in the neighbouring field.
A walk in the forest, some fried rice, and I’ll probably watch a movie – a Saturday with remarkably little sport of interest to watch.. Helsingborg ferry. These are roll on roll off.
