Day 9 – to Jämnesjön Lake

There were just two others vans with me last night, both German. A couple with their teenage son in a motorhome who were kayaking on the lake, and a couple in a VW California van who came over during the evening to chat and peak at my van. They recommended a stopover which will work well for me, a couple of hours north.

I headed up the E4 and after an hour stopped off to hike a section of the Monk’s Trail, or Munkaleden, an old pilgrim trail around the town of Skyllingaryd. The section took in a beach on the Rolstorpastjon Lake, which usually would be busy, but tidal was overcast and mid teens, so only a few tough types were out.

After that it was necessary to pass through Jönköping, the biggest town for a long way. After a quick stock up at the supermarket it was an hour or so, north west to Jämnesjön lake. Just as I arrived the forecast rain started, though we did manage to get a half hour wander in before retreating to the van.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
