Polisse

An authentic portrayal of daily procedural life of Child Protection police in the 19th arrondissement of Paris.

Had I known what it was about I probably wouldn’t have watched it, but it was recommended to me a while back, and I duly noted it down, and have just got round to watching it.

The French do these gritty police dramas very well, as in Le Petit Lieutenant (2005), and Les Misérables (2019).

The plot concerns a photo-journalist assigned to the team to document their daily activities, based on the actual experiences of Maïwenn, who wrote, directed and appeared in the film. It moves from case to case without continuity. Though they are all shocking, that isn’t the focus here.

It is very well done.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
