The weather has settled and is set fare for a fine week.

I expected the car park I was at, Drageskaret, to get busy with it being a Sunday. It had been when I arrived late yesterday afternoon, but soon emptied. With that in mind, Roja and I left for a circular hike of a couple of hours just after 9 am. It took in two peaks, the first at 352 metres, Knottahornet, and the second a few kilometres further on, at 396 metres, Sevedehornet.

The second was the site of another of my little documentaries..
Back at the van for just after 11 am, I drove fifty kilometres or so north to the town of Fosnavåg where there is swimming pool with a sauna and steam room. With the weather, I thought it would be quiet, and it certainly was. Another bonus is that in recouperation period from my hip surgery, in Norway, I qualify for a 50% discount. This was something I was told a few days ago by a guy I met on the hill. For two months after elective surgery on things like knees, shoulders, hips, entry to pools and gyms in half price. I expect they need proof on most occasions, but the guy on the toll today was quite happy to take my word.
I expect to be around Fosnavåg for the next few days, as it is one of an appealing group of islands to the south of Ålesund. I filled up with fuel, 79 litres for 1400 Kroner, so 20 Kroner a litre, which is £1.47, the cheapest country yet for fuel, which came as some surprise.
I’ve moved on across a two kilometre bridge to the island of Nerlandsøya, in particular to Mulevika beach, which is one of the best stopover places so far this course.

There’s a French campervan here also with a British couple who I met yesterday at Ervik by coincidence, but they clearly don’t want to chat. I mentioned to the guy that I had seen them yesterday at Ervik, and after a very brief exchange of conversation he excused himself to take litter to the bin.

I spent the afternoon finishing my Norwegian book, set just a hundred kilometers or so away, a piece of historical fiction called The Bell in the Lake by Lars Mytting. It dragged a bit.. so just after 5 pm Roja and I headed down to the beach for an hour or so.
