The Lodge closed as a Guest House for six weeks at the end of last week. Throughout the school summer holiday the whole house is booked by groups, which eases the work load to change over days, and means I can have a break. I scheduled the van in for its refurbishment this last week and picked it up yesterday. I’m away to Ireland tomorrow, Sunday.

The van is barely recognisable from what it was. I had done some minor work to it in preparation for the sale that never happened; repainting the interior, fitting a new oven and LPG tank, sanding and revarnishing the kitchen surface and a general deep clean. It went into GV Conversion, who had done the original conversion, for a raptor respray, a MaxxFan, new rear windows, Starlink, removal of the TV, and the replacement of some hinges on cabinets.

GV is near to Witherslack, in south Lakes, and I cycled back having dropped it off early in the week, and cycled there to collect it yesterday.

It looks really good. It has a new number plate, and alloy wheels which I arranged myself and the garage in Shap fitted.
We’re on the 11 am ferry from Cairnryan to Larne tomorrow, so an early start from Shap, and then we are headed to the Donegal coast, north west of Derry.
I’ll be back with a blog post regularly from now.
After just a few days over 3 months, we will be back on the road again..
