Weapons – USA 2025 – When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance. This isn’t the sort of horror film I usually watch, I prefer something that challenges, provokes discussion and makes you think. But.. it’s an easy watch, entertaining, and does live up to its hype.
IMDb score 7.6 / 10 – My score 7 / 10

The Kings of the World – Los Reyes del Mundo – Columbia 2022 – The best film I’ve seen in the last few months. Five teenage boys, Rá, Culebro, Sere, Winny and Nano live on the streets of Medellin. They no longer have any contact with their families, and have formed a fraternal relationship in which they have to make their way in a parallel world without any laws. They leave the city and enters the depths of the Colombian interior where they hope to find a piece of land that Rá inherited from his late grandmother. Like thousands of other Colombians, she was once violently expelled by paramilitaries.
It’s beautifully filmed with amateur actors playing most of the roles, including that of the boys. It has humour also, and a real triumph for its director, Laura Mora Ortega.
IMDb score 7 / 10 – My score 9 / 10

Night Always Comes – USA 2025 – This is an adaptation of Willy Vlautin’s excellent book by the Director, Benjamin Caron.
IMDb score 5.7 / 10 – My score 7 / 10

Hallow Road – UK 2025 – Two parents enter a race against time when they receive a distressing late-night phone call from their daughter after she is involved in a traffic accident. I didn’t think this was as good as the reviews I read.. overhyped.
IMDb score 6 / 10 – My score 6 / 10

An Irish Goodbye – Ireland 2022 – a short comedy film 23 minutes – In rural Northern Ireland, a pair of estranged brothers reunite following their mother’s untimely death. It’s superbly done, so much crammed into twenty minutes.. with tremendous performances from the two brothers, Seamus O’Hara and James Martin (who has Downs Syndrome).
IMDb score 7.2 / 10 – My score 8 / 10
