99 km (62 miles) – Total so far: 592 km (368 miles)
Breakfast was only served after 8 but it was worth the delayed start. Certainly I am recommend Paddy’s Irish Bar in town. Good chicken pasta and plenty of beer choice with the staff all knowledgeable about the situation.
Away just after 10 and back onto the Evangeline Trail into Wolfville, the 20 km in just under an hour and that was into the wind. It was a big festival day in Wolfville and the roads were closed to cars, pretty town with some decent bars and restaurants by the look of it.
From the on another hour to Windsor. It was necessary to use Route 1 for a while as it crossed two river inlets and leave the Evangeline Trail temporarily. A coffee stop in Windsor and time to decide on direction. I’m heading for Truro. Previous riders on CGOAB have taken different routes; down to Halifax and up, across directly in the North River valley, or around the north coast. I was not interested in Halifax, too big a city and roads that are too busy. Too head across along North River was what I had originally planned. It is about 90 kilometres but there is nothing on the way, and I am keen to stop at a restaurant / bar wherever possible. I had planned to stay in Windsor and ride that section tomorrow, but I was keen to do more today. Hence the choice was the north coast, beautiful I had heard and hilly. I researched a bit using google earth and found there was a pub in about 50 km, the Ŵalton Arms.
The afternoon is a good ride with lots of cyclists out, mainly going the other way, and quiet scenic roads. I arrived in Walton just in time to settle in for an early Saturday evening beer.
Much cooler today. I will take the headwind for three quarters of the day for the lack of mosquitos and less humidity.
Distance 99 kilometres, Max Speed 69.2 km / hr, 43.1 mph, new personal best, and mainly due to the fact that as I rode around the coast I turned north east so as the wind was behind me, Ride time 4 hrs 53 mins, Average speed 19.7 km / hr, 12.5 mph, Departed at 10:10 am, Arrived 4:15 pm

The bed and breakfast I used, decent breakfast, wifi, and able to wash some clothes for the first time

Wolfville with a Saturday summer festival on – decent ale house facing by the looks of it, I like the sound of a study library bar

Windsor and its claim to fame.
I was at Rugby School just over a week ago, so where next I wonder? The Canadians may have to admit that the invention of ice hockey isn’t quite the same as the beginnings of rugby…

Route 215 along the north coast passes through several villages, most without any services but a stop off called for here at Cheverie.

Now on the Glooscap Trail –
According to a Mikmaq legend, Glooscap was a giant god-like man who was created by Gisoolg (the Great Spirit Creator) and lived on the high cliffs of Cape Blomidon, overlooking the Bay of Fundy.

The Walton Pub
Most places along the touristy Evangeline Trail in the last couple of days have been very expensive. $2.30 for a chocolate bar, $2.75 for a soft drink can, $6.50 a beer last night. This place is cheaper, still expensive in comparison with UK though. Very much a locals place, but friendly.

Looks like a decent camping spot.
