It transpired that the only bad thing about the illegal accommodation was the Bud Light. I have just finished Jim Thompson’s tremendous novel about smalltown America, “pop.1280” and feared all sorts of unpleasantness was about to happen. As it was, I didn’t have any reason to even see the Sheriff. I do encourage you to read the book, very dark humour.
The Mucky Moose last night was good for some Smuttynose IPA, a bit of the Red Sox win and some sports conversation sat at the bar. I needed to get off the tourist route today and managed that by going north as soon as crossing the State Line into Maine. I still followed the Northern Tier coast to oast, but there was much less traffic, pleasantly undulating hills and several interesting lakes, much better riding therefore. It is cool in the mornings here in the mountains, but each afternoon has got warmer for the last few days, and tomorrow they forecast storms. They threatened this afternoon, much more humid than the last few days.

Still a place for old-fashioned maps.
Am I lost? Do I hear the reader exclaim?

You’ve got to let it go – some things not worth the repair
