Sligachan – Portree – Carbost – Sligachan

35 miles (56 km) – Total so far: 167 miles (269 km)

Earlier I had spotted a broken back wheel spoke, a problem which I had in Canada last summer also. This fitted in with being close to Portree. I spent a half of the day riding into the capital city, getting the repair done, then riding back via the high single track road (via Straun) through the middle of the island, lunch at Talisker in Carbost and then back to Sligachan. A wander into the Cuillin in the afternoon and some reading. The day had been fine, with a westerly wind that when riding the Straun road I was headed directly into.

About 8 years ago, I nearly bought the lodge and the backpackers, but that’s another story…

Lunch at the Distillery, it could be a long one…

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
