Day Zero – Travel Day

These are never easy with a boxed bike and a flight, but most things were on time, and the reward was the arrival into the small town of Tromso, bathed in late afternoon sunshine and framed with snow speckled hills, mountains and the sea.

You win some, you lose some. I was charged £8 for a taxi from the unimpressive Holiday Inn Express to the airport, when a shuttle should have been free. At check in the box was 3 kilos overweight and I wasn’t charged. I think I might start keeping score, it’s usually not the amounts involved, just the desire to be ahead.

The only delay was 20 minutes in the aircraft on the Oslo runway due to some strike earlier in the day, so I think it could have been a lot worse.

The prices seems sharper than I expected, which I guess they are due to recent British politics.

All should be good to get started early tomorrow morning, and plenty of rain in the forecast to increase the challenge.

Proposed route..

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
