Day 7 – To Kinlochleven
Monday 3rd May
There was a storm coming in and it’s prelim was drizzly rain, occasional sleet.
A slow start to the morning therefore, finishing Patrick MacGill’s Children of Dead End ahead of getting to Kinlochleven later.
Then into the forest again, this time on foot. The only people around were a couple of locals walking their dogs. This has been a great place to stay, well off the road, in the forest, and me, the only person here.
Dealing with me being wet, and worse, the dog also, when returning to the van, had been a concern. Patience and organisation is the key however; conveniently located towel, and dog into his own bed for a while to dry before up on to mine, and strictly no shaking the moisture off when indoors..
It was for this reason I had strongly considered an awning. But I think an umbrella would help, just for the van entry. Strange, as I’ve always had some sort of phobia against umbrellas.

Recognise this? Castle Stalker, just a hundred metres or so off the Appin coast. (This photo from internet, my view was too misted..)
Need a clue, “Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of elderberries…”

Onto Kinlochleven after some more reading in the early evening, by now heavy rain and wind.
Stopped at the Ice Factory car park. The Searchforsites app is very good, but last night’s stop at Sutherland’s Grove wasn’t on it, and I’m not going to enter it, keep it a secret..
