Day 56 & 57 – at Grazalema
And the rain came pourin’ down..
A lyric from a favourite song of mine, but indeed it did.. relentless, and due to stay for another day at least. I recall last year in the Pyrenees when I was in the T5 and had similar conditions. That was really hard work, in such a confined space without the luxuries I now have. It’s still difficult to keep things dry, with an active dog also. On such wet days the dog is keen as ever to go out, for an hour or two, but after that, is quite happy inside, and reluctant to get wet for a second time. One good thing, is that the rain came across a good weekend for sport, with plenty of rugby, and the T20 World Cup.
We did get out though. On the first day around the town, and on the second, on the footpath up to the pass a few kilometres out of town, Sendero Camino de la Charcones, which follows the previously dry Rio Guadalete, now a raging torrent.

I was 5 nights in Grazalema in all, the first where I was spoken to by the Ranger, though he let me stay, the next two at the parking just above town, and the other two just below town. There wasn’t much to see, as it was all in cloud anyway, but the lower one is where campervans are actually directed to. It was quite a busy weekend surprisingly. If it had been dry, I would have expected it, but confined to the van, as people were, I thought would attract less.
