Day 85 – to Vandenesse-en-Auxois (aire on A6)

Day 85 – to Vandenesse-en-Auxois (aire on A6)

I had purchased on online (‘government approved’…) lateral flow Covid test hours before the rules changed, and a PCR test became necessary. A day 2 test remains necessary. Fortunately though, the company charged only the difference between the tests, but the ability to use their website was delayed for 24 hours, and then it crashed because too many people were on it, but eventually I got the necessary formalities done.

I had a wonderful 5 day stay with Hugh and Pauline, in their daughter’s house. Their son and his family live next door, and Carole, Andrew’s wife, helped me to arrange a vet to get the dog’s formalities done.

Getting the van appropriately packed was important, as it now contains several 5 litre containers of olive oil and many jars of olives from Hugh and Pauline’s garden, as well as the large amount of beer and wine I picked up at the supermarket at lunchtime.

I planned to drive about 5 hours today, and also tomorrow, which will get me to Caen. I researched an ‘aire’ on the A6 north west of Dijon, and it is as quiet as the reviews spoke about, and with snow; a cold night ahead as it was below zero when I arrived at 6:30 pm.

A few more photos of the Lagnes and the Vaucluse…

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
