Day 8 – at Šenkova Domačija, Jezersko

It’s difficult for me to understand why there is so few other visitors around in Jezersko. The tourist farm I am staying at, Šenkova Domačija, has up to 50 campers here in high season, as well as rooms available, and food. The owner is the mayor of the town, and has been extremely welcoming. He came over just now with some eggs from the many chickens roaming about, and a tourist pamphlet he has edited and written a foreword for.

It is a member of the Alpine ‘Mountain Villages’ group, so a hive for outdoor activity. There’s a limit to what one can do at this time of year, with the snow still accumulated, especially on north facing slopes.

Indeed, that’s the direction I headed today on foot, towards the spectacular rocky faces of the Kamnisko Alps. I was able to get 5 or 6 kilometres along the path until the going got too tough, and a bit slippery.

This was a day at a relaxed pace though, with a book, an innovative take on vampires, Claire Kodha’s Woman, Eating. Also a tidy of the van; the dog knows it’s spring and had started to moult.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
