Day 39 – to Masevaux, Vosges
The camper-car spot at Montécheroux was dirty. The bin was overflowing and there was lots of broken glass. The bin attracted flies, along with a humid evening, and following morning. It hasn’t been the best place to stay.
I drove the 60 kilometres to the Vosges region just after 9, arriving in the town of Masevaux late morning. The rain that has been a feature of the last couple of weeks has taken a breather. Today was clear and fine, though as I said, quite humid.
I’ve taken a campsite here, as it’s well priced, and very quiet. The town is attractively nestled in the Doller river valley at 400 metres asl, surrounded by the forested hills of the Vosges. It’s a region I fleetingly visited on the way down to the Pyrenees in the old T5 a couple of autumns ago, and I’m keen to spend some more time here. It was very hot then, in early September.
We had a short walk, them settled in for an afternoon of European Quarter Final Rugby.
