Day 89 – at Hemsedal Golf Club

Day 89 – at Hemsedal Golf Club

10 below last night which is rare here for this time of year. It’s usually November until temperatures get this low. From 15 November snow tyres are compulsory, but most cars already have them fitted. I should get away with it though, there is some snow forecast tonight, but just showers, and should be dry when I drive south on Sunday.

The Golf Club here has proved a great place to stay. There’s plenty of footpaths around, though today was one of those days that my nerve problems weren’t good, so it suited me to do just an hour out.

I sat in the kitchen chatting with Martin, who is in effect head groundsman here, semi retired, so the fact that there is little or no work in the winter suits him. We had coffee with another of his staff, who just volunteers occasionally.

They have a full kitchen, so in the afternoon I cooked a curry using the Spicery recipe, which is much more difficult to do in the van, chiefly because of the washing up.

The bar in the club opens tonight with the sauna, to which I am invited. Should work well around the rugby.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
