Day 62 – at Oseja de Santambre

Day 62 – at Oseja de Santambre

A quiet Saturday here in Oseja. I had thought that the Picos National Park would be busier, especially at the weekend, but I suspect this south western corner is more unfashionable, very few places are open, the nearest grocery store for example, is a good 45 minute drive away.

I completed two 5 star books this morning. An excellent book by a favourite author of mine, Barry Gifford, who normally writes fiction, on 120 film noirs that have influenced his writing and his life, and why. Also, the latest from Max Porter, to complete his trilogy on male youth, called Shy. Again, highly recommended.

After that extra coffee, I did indeed head into the valley below, in Bob Dylan’s very famous words. This time, the valley of the River Senna, on a little used path, which descended a few hundred metres in height, before meandering between small villages.

But before that, a local guy showed off his new foal, just two days old..

There followed a lazy afternoon of watching sport, writing a few book reviews, and visiting the museum of the Picos de Europe National Park, which is next door to where I am. It includes a display of all the National Parks, and Natural Parks, in Spain, surprising me that I had so many still to visit… so that entailed some further research also..

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
