The Château de Sédières is a restored 15th century castle surrounded by the forest of Sédières and its many lakes. Known as a jewel of the “Italian Renaissance”, it was classified as a Historic Monument in 1958, and purchased of the Corrèze Departmental Council in 1965 for the sum of 40,000 francs.

The castle opens between June and September and is the base for art and craft displays, exhibitions and youth workshops. The grounds, which extend to the forest are open all year round with MTB, road bike and hiking trails.

I’ve had three really good days here in fine weather with clear skies and cold nights; it is at an altitude of over 550 metres. There have been a few other dog walkers, runners and mountain bikers, but only a few, and certainly no other vans.

With plenty of sunshine it’s been possible to use the bike again; it needs a recharge, and with the sun higher in the sky that is now no problem from the solar panels.
