Roja

Roja

Very sadly, Roja did not improve. I made the difficult decision to return to our own vets, just for a final and second opinion, though I knew the outcome. At my first appointment in Letterkenny the vet told me that this may be the case. Though when lying on the bed he was not in pain, whenever he walked he was. I lifted him down each time he needed to go out, two or three times a day. Sometimes he lay on his bed outside. He ate very little, chicken for a bit, and then went off that, pate and sausages, but not much of either. Most of all he looked sad, stressed no doubt that his normal life had changed so much.

Back at the vets in Penrith on Thursday we agreed on the only course of action. He died with me next to him, on our bed in the campervan very peacefully. It came as a relief after a very difficult three weeks.

I’ll keep this post short, one I have been holding off writing it for a few days. I’m back in Cumbria, and was headed up to Arran today, but the crowds and some commitments here have changed my plans. More in a few days..

So sorry for your loss Andy, I lost a much loved dog last September after almost 16 years, its never easy, but as you know dogs bring so much to your life. A quote I was sent rings very true, ‘having a dog will bless you many of the happiest days of your life, and one of the worst‘.

Quote of the Week

Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, ‘What road do I take?’ The cat asked, ‘Where do you want to go?’ ‘I don’t know,’ Alice answered. ‘Then,’ said the cat, ‘it really doesn’t matter, does it?’
